01 Sep 2021,Ghaziabad: the National Council of Rural Education of Ministry of Education,Govt of India organised a Webinar today.The coordinator of this webinar Smt Kiran Chandel brought out that the aim of this webinar is to hold an online workshop on waste,water,sanitation &greenery for the higher educational institutes and  give a " One District One Green Champion " award to an ideal  institute of higher education.

 

AKG Engineering College has been selected in Ghaziabad for this award owing the lush green environs and executing smart methods of waste disposal,rain water harvesting , composting and sanitation.

 

 The certificate of appreciation and a Plaque from Ministry of Education , Govt of India was given by the Chief Guest and a recipient of the National Gallantry award of Veer Chakra , Col Tejendra Pal Tyagi at his residence in Model Town East , Ghaziabad.

 

The Dean of AKG Engineering College Air Commodore P Singh ,VSM, received the certificate and plaque on behalf of the AKG Engineering College.

 

Speaking on this occasion the Chief Guest Col Tyagi said that the Municipal issues need an out of box thinking. Why can't we have sanitary land fills in stead of burning Dumping Grounds, where the solid waste is compacted and covered every day? Why can't we go for treating the sewage at site of all big complexes including residential, commercial and Governmental? Why can't we institute an Environment Quota like Sports Quota for Students? Why can't we allow civil society to carry out surprise inspection of ETPs(Effluent Treatment Plants) of industrial units to ensure that untreated effluents are not drained to rivers?

 

Mrs Kiran Chandel under the guidance of the chair person of the National Council of Rural Education Dr WG Prasanna Kumar, organised an exceptionally meaningful workshop on the aforesaid issues for the students and staff of a great number of higher academic institutions . She welcomed the Guests and proposed a vote of thanks in the valedictory function.
