YOG is implicit in soldiering

21st Jun 2021, HQ Maharashtra Unit of Rashtriya Sainik Sanstha, Mumbai : A webinar was organized today on the International Yoga Day by the Maharashtra Unit of Rashtriya Sainik Sanstha primarily at the behest of the Gen Secy of the Unit-  a Naval Veteran Sashi Kant Mishra. The topic of the Webinar was_YOGIK and SAINIK.

 

 

Inaugurating the webinar, the former chief of the Indian Navy, the descendant of the family of Prathvi Raj Chauhan, the winner of the sword of honour at the Indian Military Academy and the symbol of entrepreneurship and harmony Admiral Madhvendra Singh said that Military teaches you to get along with people, the Team Spirit, the confidence to say -CAN DO, the ability to fight for a right cause and other allied aspects. These traits are very similar to what is expected of a YOGI.

 

 

The former Deputy Chief of the Indian Army, the National Executive Patron of the Rashtriya Sainik Sanstha and the most balanced face on National Television Channels Lt Gen Gurmit Singh said that a Soldier exhibits a perfect unison of Body, Mind and Soul when he participates in an operation. And, this is what a YOGI endeavours to achieve.

 

 

The former Force Commander of the United Nations  Peace Keeping Force  and the Military Attache of the Indian Embassy in Paris Lt Gen Chandra Prakash Wadhwa nicely  brought out the tenets of YOGA and compared them with the traits of a Sainik. He gave a new impetus to the time management of webinar by voluntarily cutting his own time a bit and inviting his civilian counterparts.

 

 

Maj Gen Ranjit Singh,former Vice Chancellor of three different universities of the Country, spoke from Atlanta, USA at highly odd hour of the night and gave an exemplary demonstration of the Mayoor Aasan and Sheersh Aasan. He brought out that when we say- aa, oo, mm (OUM) the wave reaches its crest and comes down to trough in one breath, but the breath breaks while saying Sat Sree Akaal or Allah Hoo Akbar. It is a good reason why the UNO accepted 21st Jun as the YOGA DAY.

 

 

Renowned Yogacharya from Rishikesh and crusader for a Yoga Institute in Delhi Acharya Neeraj Yogi heralded the entire webinar by saying that a Sainik is a Yogi but should he defend those who are not Yogis. Those who are not Yogis, are slow, lazy,exhibit aura infested with virus,inefficient and incapable of doing good for the society. They can be treated as dead. Should a soldier protect dead bodies,” quipped Acharya Neeraj”.

 

 

Padamshree Shri Surendra Sharma, a renowned Haasy Kavi, said that a Yogi cares for his own health while I care for others health by making them laugh.

 

 

An author, an administrator and founder of a Yog Ashram Swami Amit Dev gave beautiful demonstration of  how to clean your nostrils through jal niti to accept the praan vaayu. He said good milk will get contaminated if poured in a dirty utensil. Henc to accept Praan Vaayu, clean your body first.

 

 

Highly popular yog guru maa of Mumbai Ms Soudamini Pani brought out that once you practice yoga, your efficiency increases  exponentially. Yoga takes care not only of your physical needs  but also of your mental and spiritual needs.

 

 

Mandakni Puri from Haridwar  and Saudamini Mahey gave excellent demonstration of Surya Namaskara  and brought out the immense benefits accruing out of it. Ms Mandakni Puri gave a very lucid explanation of Yoga and Ms Soudamini Mahey, a Well Ness Wizard, brought out that YOGA indeed is a magic, experience it yourself.

 

 

Col Tejendra Pal Tyagi said that YOGA has 8 phases-yam, niyam, yogasan,pranayaam, pratyahar, dharna,dhyan & Samadhi. Yam is honesty, niyam is self discipline,yogasan is like acrobatics,pranayam is control of breath, pratyahar is cutting off from the out side world , dharna is concentration. All these things are practiced by a Soldier in his daily life, in firing and fire discipline and  in operations, training and war. Hence a SOLDIER is a YOGI. QED.

 

 

Very vibrant Veteran of the Indian Navy Sashi Kant Mishra initially welcomed the Guests, in between moderated the deliberations and finally gave a vote of thanks on his behalf and on behalf of the President of the Maharashtra Unit of Rashtriya Sainik Sanstha Shri Panjab Rao Mudhane. As an organizer, as an initiator and as a teacher,Sashi Kant Mishra had put his heart and soul in this webinar attended by a very intelligent cross section of the society all across the Country. It mainly included the film director and producer Shri Uday Shankar Pani, Col Vjay Pratap Singh, a great Marathon runner Cdr Kumresh Sharma,a sanatani crusader Shri Sarvesh Mittal,a patriot shri maqbool malik,a doer and result oriented Shri Rajiv Jolly khosla,a Nationalist Bengali shri ashok jain,shri madan Sharma,a very prominent representative of the Teachers Community in Maharashtra Shri Janardan Jungle,commander of a volunteer force Shri Rahul Vij, an ace engineer shri mukesh goel from Nagpur, an IT expert Ms Neelam Gupta were a few main participants out of a huge spectrum of watchers and listeners.
