Rashtriya Sainik Sanstha handed over a draft of one lakh rupees to Ghaziabad's Divyaang Shaurya Chak

25 October 2024, 133 B Model Town East, Headquarters Rashtriya Sainik Sanstha, Ghaziabad: Today, on behalf of the National Administrative Patron of Rashtriya Sainik Sanstha and Governor of Uttarakhand, Honorable Lieutenant General Gurmeet Singh, a draft of Rs 1 lakh was presented to Shaurya Chakra recipient Captain Mohan Singh by the National President of Rashtriya Sainik Sanstha, Veer Chakra recipient Colonel Tejendra Pal Tyagi.

Subedar (Honorary Captain) Mohan Singh Rawat participated in a military operation in Jammu and Kashmir on 6 August 1999. As soon as the army team raided the hideout of the terrorists, the terrorists opened heavy fire with automatic weapons and made a strong effort to escape through the barrier erected under the leadership of this Junior Commissioned Officer. Subedar Mohan Singh Rawat, without caring even a bit about his safety, came out of his den to encourage his soldiers, when he was hit by two bullets in his arm.

He found the source and attacked him directly. In this heroic action, he killed two terrorists but this time two more bullets hit his left leg. After this, he threw a hand grenade and killed the third terrorist as well. Even after this, he kept uniting his comrades and kept firing until finally a burst of bullets hit his chest. He was awarded the Shaurya Chakra. After this incident, Captain Mohan Singh was shifted from one hospital to another. He remained in the hospital for 14 months. He came out of the hospital with the help of crutches. Then he got paralyzed and now with increasing age, his hip bone broke. The doctors refused to operate due to diabetes and high blood pressure. Presently, the condition of Shaurya Chakra Captain Mohan Singh has become like a complete cripple. Now, while presenting a draft of Rs 1 lakh to Captain Mohan Singh, National President of Rashtriya Sainik Sanstha, Veer Chakra recipient Colonel Tejendra Pal Tyagi said that the local administration should at least start honoring the living warriors honored with the Shaurya Award. One's duty is not fulfilled by handing over a shawl and saying that we are proud of our soldiers. It would be good if the Municipal Corporation provides special one-time financial assistance to Captain Mohan Singh.
